The floor beneath them cracked. A massive beam snapped loose overhead. Miguel didn't wait. He ran and leapt. Aurora screamed as they vanished into the darkness. Jessica hauled Romeo forward just as the corridor behind them collapsed entirely, sealing off the Director and his soldiers in a wall of falling steel and fire. Claire jumped next. Jessica took one final step and felt the floor give way beneath her. They fell. The air roared past them as they plunged through levels of broken metal and shattered glass. Jessica twisted midair, wrapping herself around Romeo, shielding him as the best she could.

Third-Party POV Lux was still frozen in the crashing waves, staring at the impossible vision in front of her, when the world was suddenly swallowed up in darkness again. The lightning was gone and Kairos, or whatever version of Kairos she had seen, vanished into the black. That was when the terror truly sank in. Her breath hitched and caught in her throat. The image of Kairos, the one with the tail suspended in the storm, burned itself into her memory like a curse. She had no idea what she had seen, but she knew one thing for certain: she needed to get out of there.

Because the one that held that excitement in her heart, is now gone. Not wasting another second, Soralina tears her eyes from her sister and stands up, knowing another second in there and she wouldn't move at all. And without looking behind her one last time, she jumps down the narrow cliff that she had been on, getting down in the hard ground as the noises of the fight on top of the hill dims. And right on time, Louise men begin flashing light everywhere. Standing among the mass of dead bodies which also includes Gustav Russo's, Louise scans the area with his hawk eyes, searching for the murderer of his mother.

I try to shake my head free of the thoughts, when Lyra comes charging at me. "There you are! I thought Luca murdered you!" she explains as she splashes her drink around. "No way. I thought for sure Maeve had murdered Luca!" Rowan says as he comes up behind Lyra. He slams a drink into my hand, and then Lucas, just as Seyla makes it up the hill joining us.
