Brand had forgotten what it felt like – the all-consuming need for the blood of his enemies to be spilled on the ground at his feet. Brand shook his head another scream was silenced as he ripped out another throat. The blood dripped from his long snout as he took a breath and looked around him. Leather-clad warriors lay around him, some with eyes open staring at the sky as if looking for the Valkyries coming to take them to Valhalla. Brand snorted. Good luck. He couldn't believe the gods would want any of these followers of a deranged leader in their feasting halls.

His hair is in disarray, a stark contrast to the tidy style he had on in the morning, but my body seems to prefer this side of him. The unruly locks of hair dangling close to his eyes make him look dangerous—but I’m realizing I like flirting with danger. A streak of blood flowed out of Ora’s nose but she didn’t stop chanting. The candles flared higher and higher; their glow mingled together forming an orb of sorts. The orb’s color changed from white to red to sheer black. Then with an abrupt flare, the candles went out. Ora’s eyes snapped open and her lips lifted in a victorious smile. “Do you think it worked?” I finally asked once the ritual was completed.

“Where?” “I don’t exactly remember the name, but it is situated a few miles away from here, and Spraggins Corporation runs it. I heard it is the best orphan in the city. It provides every facility for children. They have large bedrooms, toys, swimming pools, clothes, and food. And they even educate the kids.” He glanced at the building before meeting my eyes. “I’m happy for them. They got rid of this hellhole. They were freed from those evil souls.” My brows snapped together in confusion. “What are you talking about, Ronan?”

But these creatures didn’t just have tusks, they had a whole bottom jaw of protruding teeth, gnarly clawed fingers and they seemed
