“I'll eradicate every last one of them from the surface of this world, if I have to.” I followed the trial of the cart to an open valley. Meara's scent had just been there, or I could smell a drop of her blood. But something else was there with me. Dead carcass. Immediately it lunged at me as I turned to face it, but I was left stunned. My feral red eyes dimmed for a moment. It was a brown fur Lycan, only that this particular Lycan smelled like a vampire. I had seen this before. A conjuring—Necromancy. Such magic was forbidden, lost to ancient wars. It takes only a powerful witch to be able to conjure a soul from the underworld into a dead Lycan's body.

Endless tomes of geography were nestled in between, their spines a mosaic of colors and fonts, whispering stories of the world's vast and varied past. With increasing velocity, I typed through the pages of the novel, my hands dancing over the keyboard with an almost supernatural speed. Composing it had been astonishingly straightforward, as if the words materialized unbidden from my mind. Maybe the task was so fluid because I wrote of what I understood most intimately: the secretive world of the Fae. I embellished it generously, scattering bits of knowledge about other mythical creatures throughout the narrative and allowing them to intertwine with the main thread, creating an intricate tape

That's the kind of thing people make up in stories for children and I know that I'm a full grown adult so what's all this nonsense, Mother?" Florence chuckled softly. It sounded cold and amused. Humans only call it fantasy because they are too weak and stupid to comprehend it."

And the second time was always greatly easier than the first. There was no doubt that there were more words hidden within the curls and the twirls, words of power, no doubt invoked upon its crafting. Words of ancient languages hidden, guised in designs of less ancient writings. Clever, it truly was. Stupid, too, for those who understood the nature of magecrafft.

Frost brought the two books she has found towards the brown couch. She sat down and started reading the first book she found.
