I pulled my sleeve out of his grip.
"Grayson, I'm not stepping into the same swamp twice."
In the distance, someone was walking toward me carrying a bouquet of roses. He waved at me, smiling brightly. "Hey! Over here!"
When he noticed Grayson, his eyes casually swept over the man's injured leg. There was pity in his gaze.
Grayson looked at me, then at the young man. He seemed to understand something. He lowered his head, almost ashamed, and stumbled backward.
