Chapter 4 Harper's POV "See you at ten." I dropped my cell phone after reading Scott's text. I stared at myself in the mirror. My hair was up in a ponytail, light pink lipstick on my lips and I was wearing one of the few cute dresses I owned. It still felt like a dream. I was going to a school party as Justin's date. He had been my crush since middle school and I hoped he would turn out to be my mate when I turned eighteen.

Fate is known for lacking a mate, with everyone having equal doubt of him ever finding one, so this is a surprise to me. “Take me back, right now. I want you out of my life,” I say quickly, grabbing at his wrist, demanding he uses his powers to take me back to my mate. It’s dawned on me suddenly that if he figures out that I’m close to attaining powers similar to Thought, I would never get out of here. Fate pulls me closer. “Only if you promise to never speak to Thought of this. If other immortals found out…it would be bad, for us both.”

I cross my arms over my chest. “I just meant that I would have had Dani for thirteen years, I wouldn’t have been forced to mate with Shay and walk around with that big hole in my soul. It’s gone now. You healed it.” “Pffft,” I huff. “Nice try. It’s too late to backtrack now.” He sighs dramatically and empties his beer. “We’re fighting about what ifs. Our destinies were always intertwined. Whatever else might or might not have happened leading up to this point, The Fates would always have weaved events to ensure we ended up together.”

I caught a brief flicker of something past the dark, but Fate cut me off before I could explore it, though I knew the location, the Sidhe cavern. What wasn't she showing me? You will suffer,” Faye growls, her anger clearly taking over. Time doesn't even flinch, regarding Faye with a smile I am most definitely familiar with. I can understand why, after everything he has done, they don’t like him so much

“I needed to warn you.” “About what?” I question. Now I have an overwhelming feeling that this is about T. T is Fate’s brother, and after Time taking over his body and completely controlling him, this must be what this is about. However, I don’t see where I come in. “Fate, what are you talking about?” “Time is leaving T’s boyd tonight forever,” he tells me. “However, not in such a pleasant way.” “What do you mean?” Fate looks grim. “The way he is going to do it includes exacting revenge. And he’s doing it tonight.”
