I began to wait for his worried words when he reached for my hands and gave them a light squeeze. The minute I relaxed into the comfort of his touch, the horror of the previous night came rushing to me. No. I am not okay. I am afraid. Somewhere within me, there is this fear… the fear that Bryan Lockwood is watching me, that he is plotting his next move, that he is plotting how to get rid of me. Last night, I had Adonis to make me feel a bit better. But… I looked in Adonis's direction but he wasn’t standing by the door anymore. His quick absence made my fear grow.

she asked, her voice trembling. "I want your life," the stranger growled, taking a step forward. Sophia's heart raced as she looked into the figure's eyes, unable to make out their face in the dim lighting. She couldn't believe this was happening- a perfectly normal night had turned into a terrifying nightmare. She tried to run, but the stranger moved quickly, blocking her path. His heartbeat quickened violently. “Zara?” No answer. Rain intensified outside. Arman climbed the staircase slowly. Another creak echoed from the end of the hallway near Zara’s bedroom. Then silence. The door stood slightly open. A thin line of darkness stretched across the floor. Arman pushed it open carefully. Zara slept curled beneath her blanket. Alone. Relief nearly collapsed his knees. Then lightning flashed outside. And for one horrifying second - Arman thought he saw someone standing beyond the trees near the edge of the forest.

"What are you afraid of?" Frank laughed. A broken sound. The kind that hurt to hear. Then he looked directly at her. For the first time in years. Really looked. And Harper saw genuine fear. Pure fear. The kind people carried only when they believed death was coming. "They don't forget." The words barely rose above a whisper. Harper frowned. "Who?" Frank's answer came immediately. "The men behind the moon." The room became silent. Harper's pulse quickened. "The crescent symbol?"

I could even taste it in the air from the gunpowder being prepared in the near distance, even as the firearms training kept me awake at night. The energy was touchable from the increasingly skittish maid that delivers my meals…numerous of times I had to take the tray off her before she dropped it, her trembling hands clasped within mine as I whispered to her what was going on. She asked my father to cut ties with him, but Dad didn't listen. I feel sleep starting to take over, and my fear is back. I have had horrible night terrors since my mother died; her lifeless body on the ground, covered in blood, still haunts me in my dreams, and now, Apphia's stare after Rory assaulted her. I startle awake the following morning, covered in sweat. My heart is racing. I roll out of bed and rush to the shower, opening the cold water. I started to feel relaxed. The night terrors feel so real, like always. I never get used to it.

Great fear coursed through her as she ran with all her might. The damned nightwalkers knew how to blend with the night so much that they could materialise out of it easily. It was how they had pulled a fast one on Beta Lupo. “I will kill you all!” Athena wailed in her mind. I just need to survive first. Fury bubbled within her, mingled with her throbbing grief and fear. They would kill her. She did not doubt that for a second.

Carla's POV. That night, I didn't get a wink of sleep as my heart was weighed down by fear due to the fact that I knew my tormentor would be stepping her feet into my home the next day. When morning came, I became more overwhelmed with fear. I was curled up on the bed, watching as Zoe slept. I was scared ...... scared that Zoe would lose her father and I would lose my husband. I wondered how I would protect Zoe and shield her from the poison that was about to spread through our home.

POV: CALLIE The nights were tense and dark, a constant battle against the fears that lived inside my mind. When I finally managed to fall asleep, I found myself alone in the temple—a place that had once felt sacred and safe. I closed the heavy gates with trembling hands, fear, and uncertainty gripping me tightly. I peered through the narrow gap between the doors, waiting for any trace of his essence, any presence that could bring me comfort. But he didn’t come. With every passing moment of waiting, the anxiety grew, wrapping around me like a shadow.

I needed to see Diva. But it was already late. And I knew better than to go out and return after Evan had come home. He could kill me for that. The thought sent a violent shiver down my spine, making me clutch my arms tighter around myself. The fear had become a living, breathing entity, wrapping its claws around my throat and squeezing, suffocating me with its weight. The night stretched endlessly, each passing second dragging on like an eternity. I lay in bed, my body tense, my ears straining for the sound of the front door opening, for the inevitable confrontation that would come once Evan returned.
