Somewhere deep inside, I felt something tear—something fragile that had been holding me together ever since I met him. I didn’t know how long I sat there before I heard the sound. A soft ruffle in the bushes nearby. My head jerked up, my heart leaping into my throat. I held my breath, frozen in place. The rustling grew louder, closer. I gripped a fallen branch beside me, ready to swing if I had to. Then, out from the shadows, a small brown rabbit hopped into the clearing. I let out a shaky laugh, my whole body trembling. “Just a rabbit,” I whispered, pressing a hand to my chest. My pulse was racing so fast it hurt.

I was so thankful to have Valkyrie, always encouraging me every step of the way. I heard a sound “what was that?” I jerked but it was only a little rabbit. I licked my lips, maybe it was the hunger but this rabbit was looking so delicious in this very moment. What was this? Never in my life had I craved a living animal this much in my life.

Valerina's POV I was a fool to think that something in his world can be normal. I felt Augustus standing behind me and I flinched again. He must have heard my scream. "What happened?" He asked looking down at me. I gulped. "T_This Rabbit can t_talk..." I pointed toward the animal which I thought is normal but it's not. How can it talk? Augustus looked at the Rabbit and it climbed on his leg then arm and then settled on his shoulder. Isn't it scared of its life?

There, I saw white rabbit by the bush staring at me. It's white fur stands out making it more visible. It's big black eyes - still staring at me - are creeping me out. And I couldn't help but feel that behind those black beady eyes of a rabbit, someone is behind them.

"What's it doing?" "Don't be afraid little guy," I put my hand out to encourage the rabbit to come closer. "Hm, strange." I kept my hand steady as the warmth of its fur grazed my fingertips, "He's friendly, that's all..." "It goes against a rabbit's instinct." Damian put his hand near mine, mimicking the same steady movement, but as soon as his hand came near the rabbit, it quickly retreated back into the bushes. "We are it's natural predator."
