“No! Selene! Please don’t do this! You don’t have to do this!”
I froze.
Her tone was loud, panicked, acting—like she was performing for an audience I couldn’t see.
“Don’t push me, Selene! Please!”
“What are you—Sarah, stop it—”
But she just smiled.
A wicked, unblinking smile.
Then she leaned back—too far—and pushed herself.
“Sarah!”
I reached out, arm extended, heart slamming in my chest, but it was too late.
Her body tumbled down the staircase like a ragdoll—arms, legs, hair everywhere. The sound of her fall echoed down the hall, brutal and final.
