The screen flips to my little sister’s face: black wavy hair piled into a lazy bun, red lipstick, oversized T-shirt. Behind her I catch a glimpse of the living room back home in Medellín: gray sofa, big plant, and something moving in the corner of the frame… oh, Mamá. “¡Mis amores!” Fiona’s voice jumps an octave the moment she sees Max and Issa. “MIRA, GEMELITOS!”

Even though she was puzzled, she knew that was not the time to ask him. Then, Celena turned her head again and looked at Brianna, who was kneeling before her. Despite the pain, I found I couldn’t refuse her. I’d never seen sisters as close as Michaela and Bria. They were devoted to each other, Michaela as Bria’s steadfast protector and Bria as Michaela’s bright heart. As pups, Mica always said that the best day of her life was the day that her parents brought Bria home after the adoption and made Michaela a big sister. I knew devotion could be faked or abused for malicious purposes. Michaela’s parents had taught me that. So had Michaela herself by helping them spy, plying me with strategic questions when I assumed my Alpha role so she could feed information back to the Lycans.

After a few rings, she picked up. “I was beginning to think you have forgotten about me.” She said as soon as she picked up. “You know I’d never do that,” I said causing her to split with laughter. “Right. How is my sister treating you? Is she still giving you a headache?” Francesca Miller, Felicia’s older sister, has been a very good friend of mine for years. She was the one who introduced Felicia to me, “I was hoping you could talk sense to your sister and ask her to let me go. There’s no point holding on.” I said folding my arms across my chest. She went silent for a good minute before heaving out a sigh.

All three girls were now crying while my brothers didn't even care, and on the other hand I was shocked to know all my brothers were mated to Michael's sisters, the same girls who ruined my childhood. “You guys can't do this! You can punish me instead but not my sisters. They have done nothing to deserve your hatred." Micheal pleaded but Santiago scoffed. “They ruined our sister's child hood and you expect us to forgive them? Not a chance!” “But we apologised to her right? Victoria I mean Sarah remember?” “I know you didn't mean it.” I crossed my arms looking at Jasmine. “We will apologise right now.” All three girls came and knelt at my feet with tears in their eyes.

I tried to explain. "Wrong person? I saw it with my own eyes! My husband brought you to the hospital, and you dared to hug him in front of me! You came to this hospital on purpose, didn't you? You just want to rub it in my face, don't you?" she sneered. "I'm Lara Patkins, Anthony Reey's wife! No one ruins my family!" I was shocked. Anthony was my brother, so the woman before me, Lara Patkins, was my sister-in-law!
