She asked, the man frowned. "I've been calling you for the past five minutes now, what are you reading??" On reflex the girl pressed the book closer to her chest and stuttered… "n..nothing, it's just a silly novel" she lied, the book was a dark romance novel with scenes she very much liked to keep to herself only. Not even her closest friend knew what she was always reading or half of her fantasies.

He replied, "All books are fiction." "Not all." "You know what I mean." He shook his head, as I continued. "I like stories that take me somewhere else," I said, "Stories that make me forget reality exists and make me paint pictures in my head. His eyes flickered briefly. "That explains the paintings." I nodded. "It helps." "So, you're one of those romance people that enjoys all those ridiculous stories.” He said, “Where girl meets boy, girl hates boy. And then by some silly ass miracle, they both love each other at the end of the day.”

You know you’re my eldest daughter and I love you more than anyone” My dads eyes filled with tears as he spoke to me. “This huge mansion full of furniture and a 100 servants is still empty without mom. These fancy dresses and money can’t replace my mother.” I cried. “There’s no one to look after Anna and Zac. Anna is just 15 and Zac is 10. They need a mother. I totally agree that you’re trying your best and you love me the most

Though he has stopped monitoring the island every moment… The world that was crazed with digitalization had finally learnt to take a break, to talk, to love, to feel, to unplug but how long this change will last only future can tell…. Sprinted to the door, I pulled it open, not expecting it to open, but it did, causing my heart to swell in joy. Ambling to the shelf, my eyes darted round the various book covers. Fiction was my favorite book to read because the best thing about reading was to be able to escape from your life, to be able to read hundreds or even thousands of other lives. Non-fiction does not have that power, it does not change you the way fiction does. To me, if you are not affected somehow, even if it is the slightest change, you are not reading the right book. I would love to think that every novel I have read has become a part of me and created who I am in a sense.

She raises her hands up in surrender, muttering something about just being a girl. “They are interesting fantasy books.” “Ohh, fantasy, I’m in.” I rolled my eyes knowing her dirty mind was the one active here. “Not that kind of fantasy book. Real fantasy.” “Real fantasy. Like wha—“

Zane. In flesh and blood. Looking fresh from the shower and ripe for the taking. I shake my head, unable to decide what it is I find more surprising: that Zane is in the library or that he has spoken to me. I wish Sammy was here so she could swallow her words. My brain tells me not to go ahead of myself, reminding me that he had only spoken to me and not asked me out, but I don't care. “I don't know.” “I guess.” He chuckles, his dimple making an appearance and melting my insides. “You should pick this. It talks more about sex.”

He was old school if he read a wide variety of the comics that inspired them. “That’s really cool,” she told him honestly. He smiled. “Not as cool as reading nonfiction for fun. That’s seriously impressive. I never read nonfiction unless it was for school.” “Fiction and nonfiction both have their places in terms of entertainment and how informative they are. I feel like fiction does a better job of overall explaining the human condition and how people tick than nonfiction does because of the variety of characters’ emotions and motivations.” “That makes sense. I suppose there are psychology textbooks but those are clinical and often use terms laypeople can’t understand.”

she said, her tone teasing but probing, as if daring me to open up. “Well,” I started, letting my guard slip a little, “I’m a die-hard fan of fictional stories. I read the usual books, sure, but I’m more intrigued by fiction. By how characters’ emotions feel real, how they navigate life, how they make mistakes… and still grow.” She kept her gaze on me, eyes narrowing slightly, intrigued, maybe even impressed. I could feel the subtle shift in the air, the tension that comes when two people are slowly learning each other’s edges.

I mumbled to myself. That is accurate. Why can't they have only one or two truly good textbooks instead of publishing three, four, or even more interesting ones? I chose one of them and noticed that it was about a conflict between good and bad fairies, so I promptly returned it. No, I'm not reading five hundred pages of fictional tension and three fairy blatant hunks squabbling for a freaking so usual Disney princess. Give me a werewolf or vampire story with some alpha males on it any day.
