She was unusually quiet and even her smiles were strained. And I didn’t like that. I hated to see even a strain on her delicate brow.

I’m just lying on my bed thinking of different ways to torture Andy the moment the opportunity arises, when I hear something scurrying. Knowing this may be a once in a lifetime chance, I fly out of the bed and glance around for the source until I find a mouse hiding in the corner. His eyes dropped to my nervous hands fiddling together in front of my pants. He smirked. “Are you hard, little mouse?”

For a moment, I couldn't wrap my head around the situation. Mr. Lowry wasn't done, but Nathan ran over to us and pulled Mr. Lowry behind him. With feigned indignation and a hurt expression, Nathan said, "Caleb, I really don't know why you're asking me that.
