Something that smelled like it could strip paint. "You look like you're about to either cry or kill someone." The voice was low. Unhurried. The kind of voice that didn't ask for your attention – it just took it. "Either way, you need something stronger than that." I looked up. Steel grey eyes. The kind of grey that wasn't soft – wasn't misty or gentle or any of the words people used to make grey sound pretty. This grey was a knife edge. A frozen lake. The color of something that could cut you if you touched it wrong.

“You're curious about his eyes.” “Because you keep mentioning them.” “I mentioned them once.” “Exactly.” I gave her a look. She smiled. “So, what shade of grey?” I stared at her. “What?” “His eyes.” “Grey.” “I know they're grey.” “Then why ask?” “I want details.” “There's nothing to detail.” “Light grey?” “I don't know.” “Dark grey?” “Michelle.” “Silver?” “I don't know.” She leaned closer. “Beautiful?” I almost choked on my beer.

Grey standing over one of the female accountants, a few tables away from me. "W-what?" The girl stutters in confusion. "I don't know if you're aware, but this is my company. And you have the guts to talk trash about my wife. How dare you? Do you know who I am? Do you know how many seconds it would take me to totally destroy your life? One second!" Mr. Grey says, snapping his fingers, and for a second I start to feel bad for the lady. "But, she seduced you. She's nothing but a—"

As the video feed of Seraphina’s extraction flickered on the billboard, a wave of grey, anti-magic static expanded from the Skyscrapers of Architectural Holdings. It hit Silas and Lyra like a physical wall of lead, pulling the violet starlight from her wings and the gold-sapphire fire from his fur.

Her high-pitched moans echoed beautifully in the quiet office. This was exactly what Mira lacked. The woman in front of me didn’t care about pride or dignity.
