Grey stood up and slowly circled her, his footsteps echoing lightly on the concrete floor.
"You played your part well, though," he admitted. "Without you, things wouldn’t have fallen into place so easily. But now... now it's over."
Finally, Evelyn looked up, her eyes meeting his. There was no fear in them, only a cold, calculating gaze that mirrored his own. She wasn’t beaten yet, not completely. And that was what intrigued Grey the most.
He stopped in front of her and crouched down, bringing his face level with hers. "You must be wondering what happens next," he said softly. "Well, I'm not staying to find out. My part in this is done."
