I can’t believe how lucky we are at this moment in time. A nurse comes in wearing green scrubs and green crocs. Her red hair is tied in a low ponytail and she has light green eyes. “Just coming in to see how you are Luna. You need to get some sleep. Your guests will have to go shortly.” The nurse busies herself with the monitor and checks the line into Luna’s arm. She goes to the clipboard at the bottom of the bed and rests it on the table, then takes Luna’s blood pressure. “Everything appears normal, but I’d request your husband leave.”

Eventually, my eyes started to droop and I was falling asleep with his comforting voice as my lullaby. When I woke up, it was because of a nurse. She was all smiles and cheery attitude and I had to admit, it uplifted my spirits if only slightly. She was blonde like me, pretty, and young at twenty-five years old. She tells me about her eight month old daughter as she checked over my injuries. "The doctor will be by in an hour," she lets me know, helping me fix my hospital gown in place once she's finished. "I think you're going to be well enough to go home. That's some good news, right?"

a cheerful voice asked from beside her. Spirit blinked and looked up. A young woman about her age stood there, holding a tray of syringes. She had bright, friendly hazel eyes, messy brown hair tied back in a loose clip, and a crooked, welcoming smile. Her scrub top was slightly wrinkled, and her badge read Nurse Chloe Davies – Resident. “Is it that obvious?” Spirit sighed, rubbing her temples. “Honey, you look like you’re plotting a murder, and around here, Dr. Voss is usually the target,” Chloe chuckled, extending a hand.

Kit would not let this woman move forward any more. “And you are?” The nurse asked as she searched the room. Her eyes darting around and not making eye contact with Kit. Every alarm bell in Kit’s head was going off even more now. “The one who makes her medical decisions. Now please leave.” Kit said calmly as she took a half of step closer to the nurse. “You are not on her list of people.” The nurse said as she looked around some more as if there was another person in the room with them. Kit was not going to take her eyes off the woman in front of her.

Just as my feet meet the floor, A sharp pain spiral’s through my chest instantly making me recoil. “Arg!” I groan painfully while squeezing my chest. The nurse release a tired sigh and I catch her rolling her eyes dramatically which spite me up but I do nothing about it. I lay back on the bed in defeat and just allow the nurse do her thing. With my back properly laid on the bed, I face the ceiling while the nurse fix the drip back through my wrist vein. And once she’s done, she repeats the usual mantra. “Ring the bell on the bed once you need anything. Stay safe sir.” Her radiant smile doesn’t fal

Now she was bruised and broken, and I hated myself for not being able to protect her from this. The nurse slipped into the room, the door clicking softly shut behind her. She adjusted the IV bag with practised hands, the faint chemical scent of antiseptic drifting from her gloves. Then she bent to inject something else into the line, murmuring under her breath as if trying not to disturb the air itself. I rose halfway from the chair. “Nurse… is she going to be alright?” The woman looked at me, her eyes calm but firm. “She will be fine. Her body’s been through a lot, but the evacuation went smoothly. Right now, what she needs more than anything is rest.”

Even so, why would I want to be here? I take a deep breath as I continue to stand by the door. Just as I’m about to turn the door knob, a nurse stops me. “The patient is sleeping, ma’am.” the nurse says and I recognize her voice as the person I spoke with on the phone earlier. “Hi.” I say causally. The nurse is in a crisp white straight dress with a pair of flats. Her curly blonde hair is in a white nurse hat and both her hands her in her front pocket.

I sniff. “I'm Diana, by the way,” The nurse says, “One of Doctor John’s assistants. I'm always here to help.” I give her a dirty look, “No, you're here because a billionaire pays you! Get off your high horse, you're not a respectable nurse! All of this is illegal!” Her eyes widen in shock and disbelief.

The next day I was on my way with Marc in the car and the nurse who accompanied us was a woman of fifty, her comfortable body seated in her blue uniform her shoes were very formal but she was very stern with Marc. And I was very pleased with Cathy's arrangement as I had never expected her to act immediately. Marc looked at me as the nurse was put into another car which followed us along. “ I have to thank you for my new nurse, I gather, or was mom making that up?”

Fred replied. The nurse shook her head. “You must be mistaken. Nurse Stacy and I are the only nurses attached to Miss Baker and I don’t know any caregiver in the entire unit that goes by the name Nurse Tina.” Fred was alarmed. The nurse he just bumped into was shielding her nose to her jaw. She wore a hair net instead of a nightingale. He remembered the gloves, the way her hair was all packed in that net, and the way she quickly avoided his gaze was suspicious.
