I’m but a pawn in the game of whose dick is bigger and deadlier. Diego thinks he’s God and no one’s ever told him differently. Hell, even those around him must believe it. Diego kills on a whim and if one of his men stands in the way, he brutally takes them out. No one fucks with Diego Fernandez or anything that belongs to him. I almost feel sorry for my captor. Almost.

This damn building… this damn apartment… Shawn pulled the car in front of the ‘crime scene’, Danielle’s house. The moment he set foot out of that infernal place; Shawn promised himself never to return again, not even for a simple visit. Danielle tried to play him and she almost had her way. He had an idea of how malicious, how vengeful she was, but by sending the photos to his wife, Danielle pushed this sick game to another level. This madness had to stop and she had to pay for all she had done to Belle and to him.

Wanted to sink into it and be done. She drifted. Images came and went without order—the stream, cold and dark; the church ceiling, blurred by candle smoke; the pit, not yet seen but already known. Faces overlapped and dissolved. Time lost its edges.

Photos line the walls. Frames of all sizes. Black. Silver. White. Some simple. Some heavy and expensive. Every frame holds the same woman. Me. I stop breathing. I walk closer, slow, careful, as the pictures might bite. There I am, laughing on a beach. My hair is loose, my face open. There I am in a red dress, standing beside Adrian, my hand on his chest. There I am in a kitchen, barefoot, holding a mug, smiling like I am happy to be awake.

I didn't want my parents to see me like this. I stayed in the bathroom for what felt like an eternity. The steaming water eventually became colder than ice. I came out, shivering like a chick. My phone was buzzing wildly on my desk. It was the class' group chat. There were already more than ninety-nine messages tagging me. I opened the chat, and the first thing I saw was a bolded headline. 'Movie of the year! Police Story in real life! Watch her fly!' I was hanging in midair like a puppet with strings holding up its limbs in the video. When the camera drew close to my face, it showed nothing but a twisted expression of horror.

Irritated by Terry, I stepped on his foot as I reached into my bag, materialised another bag of gold, and threw it at the bandit leader, "There' that's the rest of it. Terry, let's go." As we went to continue walking on, their leader started to form a giant smile on his face, "Not so fast. I said we 'might' let you go. How are we to know this is all the gold you have? I think we need to perform a strip search of the lady, don't you agree, guys?" The men behind him all started to smile, and a few of them began to have creepy looks on their faces as they stared at me. The looks on their faces grossed me out, "You even lay a finger on me; you'll regret it, trust me."

SUSAN DAVIS, ALLORA’S TOP MODEL, AND DAMIEN MARTINELLI OF STAR ENTERTAINMENT ARE GETTING MARRIED! Time slowed. The honk of a car beamed loudly. Zia Hidalgo’s body slowly sank and just before her head hit the ground, a strong arm encircled her.

Six years after my younger brother and my fiancée passed away, I picked out a grave for myself. Before my final visit to their graves, my mother suddenly said, “Miles, you don’t have to go this year. The truth is that they never died.” I was startled for a moment before the two of them walked right out of my brother’s room. My brother, Sean, put on a teasing smile as he draped an arm around the woman beside him. “I won the bet! I told you my brother would never figure it out. “Who’s going to be on top tonight, huh, Vera?” My so-called late fiancée, who used to cry whenever she saw me suffer even the slightest grievance, looked at me with open disdain. “He’s just too stupid. We’ve been

What surprised me most was that she had no idea how much she was supporting me simply by being here, by laughing with me, by filling the quiet spaces, by making the weekend feel light when so much in my life still felt heavy. As I watched her smile with sincere gratitude, Liam suddenly slipped into my thoughts. Just for a second. The familiar pull of him, the unresolved questions, the lingering warmth mixed with uncertainty. I quickly shook the thought away and took another sip of my drink, forcing my attention back to the people moving in and out of the pool. I found myself half-distracted, trying to invent small stories for the strangers around us, when a loud splash erupted right in front

Just when everyone thought Jason would surrender, he rushed to the window and jumped out, dragging Jean after him. With a loud bang, the bomb exploded in mid-air, turning both of them to ash. … In the Underworld, I clutched my ticket and waited for my number to be called. Beside me, the elevator leading to the Fields of Punishment arrived. The doors slid open. I watched as two familiar figures were dragged into the elevator by the guards. I could hear Jason mumbling, "Will I see Chelsea in my next life?" All he got in reply was silence. My gate opened. I stepped through without hesitation. May we never meet again in our next life.
