Not with anyone. I tried to shake it off, but my body wasn’t listening. By early afternoon, I gave up on pretending I wasn’t distracted and retreated to my room. I flopped onto my bed, pulling my laptop onto my lap to check the university portal. A few emails, a syllabus update, nothing earth-shattering. My cursor hovered over one tab: my English seminar schedule. Professor Dalton, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. I made a face at the name. “Professor Asshole,” I muttered under my breath.

“Hi, I’m looking for Steven. . .uh. . .Professor Steven. . .” I trailed off and gave her a small smile. “I’m sorry I forgot his last name.” The elderly woman waved her hand and gave me a friendly smile. “It happens to all of us. Is he expecting you?” I was about to shake my head, but decided against it and gave her a nod instead. She told me that I could find him in his office and then handed me a map with the path to it marked clearly with a black pen.

That makes him even hotter. “Yeah, you're quite a great teacher, Professor Shawn, but there were quite a few things that I just couldn't grasp.” I said sweetly, contorting my face so as to seem the serious yet confused student I'm playing. “Would it be okay if I could get your number and ask the questions I'd like to ask?” “Yeah, sure.” He stretched out his hand, and I handed him my phone, to which he typed in his number. “There you go.” He handed it back to me. “You can reach me anytime. I’d be glad to help.”

I was done. I spetmt the rest of my day inside my room listening to my favourite music, and reminiscing on Elias that was until my phone buzzed, pulling me out of my trian of thought. My brows twisted into knots, wrinkles appearing on my forehead. I pondered on who's number it could be that was until I picked up the call. “Hello dear. It's professor Lucas. I was wondering if you're free for us to talk tonight.” I was stunned and I felt my throat dry up. I tried to talk and for a few seconds I struggled.

“Oh please prof, you know exactly what I'm capable of. I always get what I want “, I said folding my arms. “Go daddy…get ready for your next lecture, by the way, I loved the sex”, I whispered, brushing my lips on his neck. I walked away without hearing his response. Nothing makes me happier than knowing that the tough professor people know has fallen for me. I searched for Karen everywhere but I didn't see her. She was fast for someone who spent most of her time sitting in the front rows and raising her hand. I checked the stairwell, the library entrance, the bathroom on the second floor and the common area outside the science block and found nothing.

My chest rose unevenly, my pulse spiking so fast. What is he doing here…? The head professor cleared his throat. “Good morning, everyone.” I didn’t hear anything else. My eyes were locked on the same face I had been too close to just hours ago. Fuck. “I’ll be introducing your new professor for this course.” My heart skipped, then slammed hard against my ribs. I swallowed, throat dry. No. No, no, no— “Thiago De la Cruz.” The name echoed. A wave of murmurs spread across the hall, but it sounded distant like I was underwater.

His dark brown hair was neatly styled, and his gentle gaze encompassed us all. He had gentle features yet there was something about him that attracted me to him. “Good morning, everyone,” he began, setting his materials down on the desk. His voice was deep and smooth, with just a hint of an accent that I couldn’t quite place. “I’m Professor Farid Reign, and I’ll be guiding you through Advanced Theoretical Physics this semester. We’re going to delve into the complexities of quantum mechanics, explore the difficulties of string theory, and discuss the latest developments in cosmology.”

the man continued, “your application could move significantly faster. Two or three weeks, maybe.” Two or three weeks still sounded horrible. I turned the corner near the older faculty offices and froze. The door to Professor Harlan’s office, an older economics lecturer known for being strict and married, was slightly ajar. Moans and the unmistakable sound of flesh slapping flesh spilled out. I should have kept walking. Instead, morbid curiosity pulled me closer. I peeked through the gap.
