"Yeah?"
"I'm sorry," I said, pointing a finger directly at his chest. "Are you cooking?"
He blinked, his thick dark eyebrows pulling together in mild confusion. "Yeah... why?"
"Because it smells ridiculously good," I said, crossing my arms over my chest. "Can I have a taste?"
He looked past me into the empty hallway, then back down at my face, stepping back an inch. "Who are you?"
"Oh, right! I'm Tasha," I blurted out, offering a bright, unbothered smile. "Your new next-door neighbor. We literally just moved in yesterday."
