I lay there, twitching, my fingers clawing uselessly at the stone, trying to find anything in a world that was rapidly disappearing.
“Judging by the loss she’s been through,” Ephraim said, his voice echoing as if from the end of a long tunnel, “she’ll be angry instead of sad. She’ll charge into battle unprepared, fueled by a reckless rage, only to meet me.”
He reached down, gripped the handle of the dagger, and yanked it free.
The sound that left my throat wasn't human.
“I’ll be waiting for her,” he said, his shadow Looming over me like a shroud.
