Xane said, his voice carrying that lazy drawl that always sounded half amused, “that you actually wasted your allowance on that busted Street Fighter machine at the arcade?”
“It wasn’t busted,’ I shot back, grinning even though he couldn’t see me. ‘You just suck at it.”
“I don’t suck,’ he protested. ‘I strategically lose to lure my opponent into a false sense of security.”
“Sure,’ I laughed. ‘Keep telling yourself that. You button-mash like a toddler.”
“I’ll have you know I’m undefeated in Mario Kart,” Xane countered, mock offense dripping from his tone.
“Only because you pick Rainbow Road every time and throw everyone off the track,” I said.
