Blowing out a tired sigh, my father lowered himself into a crouching position so that he could be at the same eye-level with me, resting his elbows over his knees as he started to explain, "Carina, we're...You, and me and your sister, we're not humans either. We share an ancient bloodline, the shaman bloodline. Our veins are filled with magic," I looked at him for a moment, peering between his eyes before I suddenly started laughing, apparently taking them both by surprise as they gave me weird looks. "Yeah, okay," I snorted, "You almost got me with this one," I let out another laugh, abruptly stopping upon noticing that irritated look on my father's face. But before I could say or do anythi

"That was different." "Was it? Or was that the real her, and you're just pissed that reality is more complicated than your revenge fantasy?" I wanted to argue. To tell him he was wrong and that Lily Rose was a threat that needed to be eliminated. But the words stuck in my throat. "I'm trying to protect Richard's legacy," I said finally.

The voice seemed to come from all around him, echoing off the walls. "Who are you?" he demanded, his hand on the hilt of his sword. There was no answer, but the voice continued to whisper in his ear. "The darkness may be defeated, but its legacy lives on. And you, Ryder, are a part of that legacy." Ryder felt a chill run down his spine. He had thought that defeating Emilia's darkness would bring an end to the darkness, but now he realized that it was far more insidious than that.

He pointed it at the main power coupling for the entire building—the one Silas was standing right next to. "You think I care about the tower?" Dark asked, a terrifying, jagged smile touching his lips. "You think I care about the legacy? I’ll bury us all in this basement, Silas. I’ll make sure the Thorne name ends tonight. Unless you step away from that glass." Silas looked at the power coupling, then at his son. He saw the truth in Dark’s eyes. Dark wasn't bluffing. He had finally achieved the one thing Silas had always wanted: Total Emotional Detachment from the Empire.

The furniture around me shook, Soraya shrieked, Lucien stiffened, but I didn’t care. I stood so fast in anger, my claws had already begun to sprout, my vision tinged with crimson. “Damien,” I snarled, my voice shaking the walls. “He’s dead.” The prophecy, the curse, the questions—they would all wait. Because right now, there was only one truth that mattered. Emilia is mine. And I would burn the world to ashes before I let anyone else claim her.

Emotions twisted: delight in the chaos, arrogance in her power, a flicker of surprise at the pack's ferocity. The altar chamber erupted in brutal combat, claws ripping flesh, blood staining the moonstone in rivulets that fed the runes, the mist swirling chaotically as bodies collided. Ember charged Veyra, claws slashing, tearing into Fang's flank, a yelp echoing. "For the pack!" Alya roared through Ember, emotions peaking: vengeance for Toren, love for Kael through the link. Ash protected Lila, his gray form shielding her as she healed, mind-link faltering briefly—Kael's secret weighing, guilt dimming the connection. "Alya... hold strong," he growled, emotions raw: fear of losing her, love p

It paced, restless, teeth bared. Deep in my chest, something old and violent stirred. A part of me I had buried long ago. I welcomed it. Because whatever came next would require that darkness. I leaned over Elise again, pressing my forehead gently to hers. “Rest,” I whispered. “I’ll handle the monsters.” My gaze lifted, sharp and unyielding. Damon’s shadow had fallen. But his legacy wasn’t done and I'm ready to finish it.

The pursuing creatures slammed against it, howling in frustration, their forms dissolving partially before reforming. Inside, Autumn collapsed against a moss-covered altar, her breath ragged. The silver light faded, leaving her drained, but the visions persisted—her mother's face, urgent and warning. "The legacy is not just power," the memory whispered. "It's a curse. To wield it fully, you must bond with your true mate, or it will consume you." Her true mate. The words hit like a revelation. Gale. It had to be him—the pull she felt, the way his presence calmed the storm inside her. But he hadn't said anything, hadn't claimed her. Why?

‘I guess you are flattering me Sir,’ Ima said yieldingly. ‘You should know that am not the type of men who shower flatteries anyhow, I call the truth as it is. The old woman, May her soul continue resting in peace, wasn’t wrong when she named you the sole heir to her empire. She saw what thousands failed to spot in you and am sure wherever she is, she is very proud of you.’

“I need to leave, we don’t have anything left here to do.” “So we are safe and we would not need to do anything again?” I asked her and she nodded. “All that is left is for our legacies to realize their fate.” Themis said absentmindedly before she smiled at me, her attention coming back to her surroundings. “But that will be a long time for now seeing that the Legacies are not yet born.”
