The Fire That Chose Me
“Then we’ll burn them clean.”
The words came out fierce, surprising even her. But Aiden’s mouth curved in something close to pride, his hand brushing hers as though to remind her they were one.
The pack of creatures prowled closer, the ground vibrating beneath their weight. Evelynn felt her fire surge, begging to be unleashed, and for the first time she didn’t hold it back. Flames licked along her fingertips, bright against the golden glow, wrapping her hands in living light.
Aiden let out a growl, his body shifting, his strength rising to the surface. He glanced at her one last time, eyes locking onto hers like an anchor. “Together,” he said.
