Aurora POV The drive back home is silent, the kind of quiet that presses in from all sides, thick with everything we can’t say. Emmi is in the back seat, her little legs swinging, oblivious to the storm brewing between the adults. Lucas keeps his eyes on the road, his jaw tight, and I stare out the window, my mind racing. Killian is coming to our home. After three years of nothing, he’s here, and I don’t know what he wants or how to stop him.

I ask him warily because I fear his efforts would have been futile. "Let's head back. I will explain later. No one will be able to see that. You only saw it because you are part of me. That is called the Flame Of Atonement. No one evil will be able to stand its scorching heat. Let us go back to the villa. Our mate needs us." Emberwing responds and my heart is at ease.
