Amira whispered, her voice hoarse but stubborn.
Aiden’s temper flared. “Fine? Are you seriously saying you’re fine right now? You’re burning up, Amira!”
She turned her face away, closing her eyes as if that would make him disappear.
“Your ego, Amira! Even with a fever, you can’t stop acting tough. It’s ridiculous,” he snapped.
Aiden stormed out of the room, trying to call someone—anyone—for help. But the network was down, leaving him more frustrated. He returned and stood before her.
