The alpha’s forgotten mate
The first light of dawn barely pierced the dense frost, covered trees surrounding the camp, casting long, crooked shadows that stretched across the snow like grasping fingers. Ice clung to every branch, every needle, transforming the forest into a cathedral of frozen bone and glass. Lyra stood at the edge of the clearing, her breath shallow, her amber eyes fixed on the pale horizon. Each exhale formed a soft cloud that vanished almost instantly, swallowed by the cold.
The frost bit at her skin, seeping through layers of fur and leather, but it was nothing compared to the chill creeping steadily down her spine.
