Tyler’s POV I watched as Dalton walked through the front door of the pack house. His face was tired and his shoulders hung. He had executed Maxine and Doctor Winder this morning and then we had all helped with tending to the hurt pack members. I didn’t go with him to see them be executed. I couldn’t bring myself to do it even though she had tried to kill me, my family, and Dalton multiple times. I just didn’t want to look her in the eyes as he took her life. I was sitting at the kitchen bar when he walked in. He eyed me and made a straight path to me. When he approached he turned my chair toward him and picked me up by my waist and held me tight to him as I wrapped my legs around his waist.

Alpha Wyatt never came back to the Packhouse while I was there, so I never even got to talk to him about anything—which didn’t help me get any sleep. I had just got to the diner and clocked in; Helping Amelia get the place ready to open, starting up some pots of coffee and making sure the dining area was clean and tidy. I make sure to unlock the doors and light up our open sign in the window. As I got behind the counter to put on my apron, my heart sinks to my stomach. Dallas stood there in the doorway, holding a bottle of pills in one hand and a tray of food in the other. His expression was completely unreadable as he took in the scene; Carter naked on the windowsill, the rope of knotted sheets, the obvious escape attempt. For a long moment, neither of them moved. Then Dallas gave a long, deep, disappointed sigh. “Were you really about to climb out of my window naked?”

I hope. Dallas shrugged. “OK, whatever you say. If that’s the end, that’s the end. So, what are you up to today?” “I have the morning off, then I go to work. You?” Dallas sighed. “I have that guy from Atlanta coming into town tonight, and he wants to go out clubbing.” “On a Wednesday?” “I know, right? But he needs protection, so it’ll probably be an all-nighter at bars and strip clubs, watching his back.”

I glanced at Williams, who remained silent, as if in pain. "It's nothing, Dean. A friend of mine came to visit, and I was happy about it all." Dean looked at Henry, who smiled and extended his hand for a shake. "Hi, my name is Henry, and I'm from the Lycan pack. I used to be a beta to Williams here, but I guess my rights have been taken away." I observed how Dean shook hands with Henry, then turned his attention back to me. "You need to rest, Sierra. You know I don't like seeing you this way."
