My instincts screamed at me to turn back, but I ignored them. I reached out. The second my fingers brushed the book’s surface, a violent shudder tore through me. The world around me vanished. Fire. The vision struck hard and fast, like a blade to my mind. I saw flames swallowing the land, smoke choking the sky, the ground trembling beneath the weight of something monstrous. Shadows moved through the fire, writhing, shifting, forming grotesque shapes—creatures unlike anything I had ever seen. Wolves fought against them, their howls lost in the chaos. A battlefield soaked in blood.

When I got to the hidden library, I scanned through the shelves and took three books that were about history and ancient creators, put them in my bag and headed for the door. But just as I was about to place my hand on the knob, a crash echoed through the room. My heart leaped into my stomach the same time i turned around and the sight i saw before me made mew freeze to my bones./ It took everything, every single thing in me, to not scream and yell…perhaps it was because I did not want to draw unnecessary attention from outside, or maybe I was just too scared to move a muscle let alone screaming. My wolf replied. I shook off the "what-ifs" that held me back and turned back to the towering oak shelves. My fingers traced the spines of leather-bound books, all of them layered in dust that made my nose itch. "Focus," I muttered to myself. "One monster at a time." I immediately admonished myself. I continued to look until I found the books my dad had recommended. I pulled the four heavy volumes from the shelves. The History of Shadow Entities, The Blood Rites of the Unseen, The Search for Shadows and one volume of Pack Lore and Ancient Threats. I carried them to a secluded corner of the library. The dust felt suffocating, but I wouldn't let anything stop me.

He felt immense power flowing inside of it, and he instantly sensed something terribly wrong about the book. It gave off the aura of darkness and malice, and despite the fact that he had already obtained it, the book caused his wolf to awaken and roar loudly. Placing her other books on the floor, Layla pulled the leather-bound book from its home amongst the others and opened it. As her eyes skimmed the pages, she caught a couple of words; SHADOW STALKERS, BLOODSUCKER, PHANTOMS.
