The Perfect Lie
Sadie teased, but Eric just shrugged and stared at Matthew, finishing his pie.
There were two remaining slices, and he picked one again. “May the best man win, dude!” He was not smiling. “You know I like her, too.”
Whether they were bluffing or not, I hated them but hated myself more. I shook my head, reaching for the last slice, but Samantha took it. I raised my eyebrows and looked at her, squinting my eyes questioning her action.
Samantha rolled her eyes at me. “You don’t deserve to have the last piece, Blake. You lied to me..., and you know for a fact that I hate it when you lie to me.” There was bitterness in her words.
