There are so few views, now that Goodnovel provided me a platform, but I am more than happy to continue this story and perhaps, make it my first completed novel. So now allow me to talk about the novel itself. I have talked to my editor about it and I came to know that my first few chapters are quite odd. The beginning chapter itself barely had any conversation. Well… To be honest, it can’t be helped since I wrote it on my first attempt in writing. I have no background. No experience. I read. I read. I read a ton. I was very smug about my memory since I could remember all sorts of details from hundreds of chapters back.

It was the first comfort I’d felt in days. I closed my eyes, basking in the warmth of the sun that bathed the room. The light was soothing, calming the chaos in my mind. But then, just as quickly as it came, the warmth vanished, replaced by a cold shadow that loomed over me. My heart raced, and I knew, without looking, who it was. Slowly, I opened my eyes. The Alpha stood above me, his silver-grey eyes locked onto mine. He raised an eyebrow, watching me intently. His expression was unreadable—somewhere between amusement and fury.

She wrote one line on the first page. She held it up so Dominic could read it. He read it. He looked at her. "Is that the book?" he said. She looked at the line. At the green ink. At the specific, first sentence of the thing she had been circling for twelve years and had not had the time or the quiet to begin. "Yes," she said. "I think it is." He refilled her wine. She looked at the line. She wrote the second one. The Siena evening held them.

"Thank you." "The line you added at the very end," Evelyn continued. "The line about the kitchen knowing what it is—that is your first sentence and your last sentence." Aurora gripped the edge of the desk. "You want to build the entire narrative around that?" "Yes," the editor stated firmly. "The book begins with a kitchen that does not know yet. It ends with a kitchen that finally does. Everything in between is the process of knowing." "The process of knowing," Aurora whispered.

I help her lift it up, and that is when we see the book that is just sitting there in the sand. I hear Nova's breathing seize. “What's that?” She asks, her voice barely above a whisper. I look around one more time, making sure that we aren't being watched, as I pull the book out of the sand, dusting off the cover. There isn't a name. As I open the book and flip through the pages, they are slightly damp, with almost all the pages empty. I get to the middle, and that is when I see the first drop of ink in the book. The handwriting is more or less scribbling, but I can clearly read everything.

I sighed. I turned to the first story and started reading. I read story after story. Some were interesting, some were familiar, some were bizarre. Then, more than halfway through the book, I found it. The very first line read, "There once was a young girl. Her wolf had no name." It was titled, 'Child of Stars', kind of fitting since my Dad's wolf is Starfire. My wolf chimed in with her usual pessimism, 'It won't help.'

Novel’s POV “You... Alice?” The words felt like lead in my mouth. I stared at her, my mind reeling. “You are the lady we have been looking for?” “Yes, I am,” she answered. She stepped toward me, her presence cold and suffocating. She leaned in, her breath ghosting against my ear as she whispered, “I have been watching you since you were a baby, Novel.” She pulled back, a serene, terrifying smile fixed on her face. I clenched my hands into fists, my knuckles turning white as a tremor took over my body.

Maybe… maybe I’d find answers about the big betrayal here. I opened it. The first line glowed faintly in the dim room: “I am the fire—” And then the world went black. Not metaphorically. Not because I blinked. I went blind. It took me a moment to accept the fact that I had lost my eyes just after reading the first line! My breath seized. “What—what’s happening?” I whispered, reaching out into space. “I can’t—I can’t see—I can’t see!” Panic clawed up my throat.
