THE GAMMA'S DAUGHTER
The air turned colder with every breath he took, shadows rippling outward from his feet.
“We’re surrounded,” I muttered, stepping away from him slowly.
His voice was a growl. “Let them come.”
A bolt of light shot toward us, but I raised my hand, twisting my fingers through the air. Shadows erupted like vines, devouring the spell mid-flight. My eyes burned with violet flame as my blood stirred. I could feel her—my demon—writhing beneath my skin, itching for freedom.
“You want to see what a Celeriac demon looks like?” I whispered, mostly to myself.
