Odette reminded, eyes wide with wonder.
This time, Alice focused on the flame, keeping her emotions calm. She swirled it gently, feeling the warmth without letting her excitement take over. “I can do this,” she whispered, a grin spreading across her face.
“Now try to make it grow,” Johnson suggested.
Alice concentrated harder, willing the flame to expand. It flickered, growing taller as she controlled it with her breath. “Yes, yes!” she said, her heart racing with triumph.
But as she continued to push, the flame grew too large, licking the air dangerously. “Whoa, whoa!” she shouted, quickly bringing it back down.
