I don’t know what I was expecting, maybe just a couple of puncture scars from his canines and/or fangs, but what is there is something totally unexpected. It was like a full tattoo. It was of a wolf howling in front of a full moon, which had a crown wrapped around it with what looked like vampire fangs hanging from it. Next to the wolf was what looked like a cat, though it wasn’t a cheetah. I moved even closer to the mirror, frowning at the mark, as it seemed a little incomplete. There seemed to be a blurry section around the Cat. It was as if something was missing, though I didn’t know what.

He stares at my arm, at where the sleeve of the jumper I’m wearing is rolled up enough and his eyes focus right in on where the tattoo is. I paid a small fortune for that tattoo. It’s a phoenix. It felt almost poetic at the time although I’d admit now it’s a bit cheesy. Its wings are inked into flames. It stretches over my forearm, not too big, but it covers what he’d done. How he’d marked me.

However, both men were covered in tattoos and muscles. Alpha Jace was a natural bleach blonde with freckles. He had such a baby face that he put a snake tattoo across his chest, around his neck and on his cheek. With working out for ten hours a day, he transformed his adolescence appearance to a bodybuilder in months. Jacob and I always wondered if he used any enhancers because of this.

Chase points out the spot on his arm where he wants the tattoo again and Benji shaves the area, prepping it to transfer the stencil of his design. “Eyes on me,” I say sternly when Benji reaches for the transfer paper, and Chase turns his head in my direction, a lazy grin sliding across his lips. “It better not be a fucking kitten,” he grumbles, and I can’t help but laugh. Should’ve gone with a kitten. I waggle my eyebrows teasingly. “It’s a fluffy pink one, and you’re gonna love it.”

My dress was short-sleeved and long. There were a lot of flowers out here tonight. The ceremony was being held behind the pack house. I checked my arm, expecting to see red, enflamed skin; instead, I found a blue mark in the shape of a flower. It looked like a morning glory flower. It was as if someone gave me a tattoo. “What’s wrong, Gabbie?” Kade asked, reaching for me. “I don’t know. I didn’t have this a few minutes ago.” Kade thumbed the new tattoo. It didn’t brush off. Kade rolled up his white shirt on his left arm. My lips parted when he showed me a bright red paw tattoo on his forearm.

That is, if you ignored her beauty and sensuality. As Sharon greeted me, sunlight from one of the hallway windows illuminated her arm for a moment. That’s when something caught my attention. When she extended her hand to greet me, her sleeve lifted slightly, revealing a small tattoo on her wrist. A blue falcon. My stomach churned instantly. That same bird was the symbol of the gang that had recently threatened me. The mark was unmistakable. But how could she have something like that? This was too much of a coincidence.

Jericho smiles warmly, “Coffee would be great. Darling, would you like a cup?” “Yes, please.” Gina grins. It was at this point when I notice something different about her neck. Gina is sporting a fresh mark at the crook of her neck that looks like a scar that has been tattooed over. It’s all black and has kind of a tribal feel. It has imagery depicting a full moon with claw marks on either side circled by a large bite mark that wraps from the front of her shoulder to the back.

Kade’s broad shoulders stood tall, his chest pumped up, but it was not as frightening as his robust six foot frame that guarded my doorway like a fence. My heart thrummed rhythmically while I watched the torchlights shed dark shadows across his scared face, that Sun Pack tattoo, a sun split in the middle by a claw, sketched boldly like a caution on the side of his neck. One eye, cloudy and pale, fixed on me like a rooted tree, while the other glows with a bloodthirsty delight.

He has inked me onto his skin. I glance up briefly at Lachlan knowing he is probably the one who tattooed that on his friend. Lachlan seems nervous. My missing Chaos boy’s dark eyes widen noticing us. “You’re a ghost. I’m seeing things,” he says in a dismissive tone. He doesn’t want to believe I’m here and that I’m back for them. He licks his bottom lip and then stands walking over to Lachlan and me. “Lock. Tell me I’m not seeing a phantom of her.”

My gaze drifted unconsciously to his collarbone. There was a new tattoo there. Red, still swollen from being freshly inked, but unmistakable. It was my name. The characters were rendered in the most ancient, wild cursive form of script, like an old, binding sigil. My fingers trembled as I touched it. “When did you… get this?” Henry caught my hand and rubbed it gently against his palm. “Last night, after you fell asleep.” “Did it hurt?” “It was better that it hurt.” His eyes darkened, and a satisfied smile curved his lips.
