“Who sent them?”
“I’m sorry, there wasn’t a card.”
Cole searched through the bouquet the moment the driver left, turning over every stem and leaf like something dangerous might be hidden among the petals. “There’s nothing here. No card, no note, nothing.”
“They’re beautiful,” I said, trying to find something normal in the moment.
“They’re also suspicious,” he said, already carrying them toward the kitchen. “I’m having these checked before they go anywhere near you or Ava.”
“You think someone poisoned flowers, Cole?”
