I say reassuringly. Flutter hesitates for a moment, still cautious and unsure. It gazes at me with a mix of worry and curiosity. Slowly, it inches closer, its tiny wings fluttering nervously. I hold my hand out, palm up, as a gesture of trust. "I promise, no more belly touches," I say softly. "Just your back, if you're comfortable with it."

Carter didn’t rush her and continued doing what he was doing, he knew that though their relationship couldn’t be considered set in the stone, they were at least close enough for Thalia to tell him what was going on in her mind.

he asked her with a desperation and hope in his eyes. "I-I-I promise, Emi." she said feelings relieved that he was not angry with her anymore. "Not like this. I want a pinky promise from you." he said and extended his pinky finger towards her. "P-P-Pinky promise." she said hooking her small pinky finger with his and her chin wobbled. "You know na what happens if you break your promise?" he asked raising his brow at her. A small smile graced her lips and she nodded in yes.

Later, when her best friend's emotions had subsided, Abigail might be able to help her in other ways. "Abby..." Flavia raised her voice again. "Hmm?" "Promise me that you won't discuss this with anyone. Not Aunty C, not my father and not anyone else." She asked with a pleading look. Promises were sacred to Abigail. She knew that once she had made a promise, she could not break it. But in a way, she also wanted to know the truth that Flavia was questioning about herself.
