She lets out a vicious hiss that reminds me of the deranged stray cats that lurk in the streets on Earth. “The scourage!!” She hisses again as she releases the Kindred, as if touching him suddenly burns her. She performs a backflip, landing in a crouching position with one arm extended behind her head, high in the air. “Traitor!!” She growls, her eyes turning pitch black with rage. “TRAAAIITTTOOORRRR!!!” She screams again in a high pitch shrill that has everyone in the eatery hall cowering with their hands over their ears.

I am stunned into silence as my head flips back and I feel like I had just gotten whiplash. I look at her and before I can stop myself, my claws are extending from my fingers, and they rake across her face. She screams, grabbing her cheek and looking at me with true fear in her eyes. “You will pay for this!” she screams as she runs out of the washroom.

I don’t know how he does it, but somehow, it makes me slightly calmer, too. But then the tree shudders again, the one side slipping entirely. A scream tears from my throat as it falls into the water, rushing away down the flume, and yet…

Samantha’s scream tore through the clearing. The pain intensified—searing white-hot through her chest, her limbs, her skull. She collapsed fully to the ground, her fingers digging into the soil. She starts blowing out flames and then all of a sudden she’s blowing out ice! ‘Woah!’ I say absolutely flabbergasted, ‘that's crazy, can you do that all of the time? ‘That’s not all! And the ice not so much, sometimes it hurts my throat… but watch…’’ Sapphire muses before blowing out this purple mist. ‘What is that?’

I could see the anger, pain, and sadness brew inside her as her eyes slowly began to turn white and her lips parted, letting out a loud, piercing scream. Everywhere instantly turned dark, and a gush of wind like never before began to blow, sending not just the rogues but everyone flying. I struggle to maintain balance as she continues to scream, and the cries of not just the wolves but also the humans could be heard with blood dripping from their ears.

She never imagined it could be more than friendship. ''No… no… this is a lie.'' She whispered. ''It’s not possible…'' Her breathing grew shallow. ''Lily. Lily, breathe. Just breathe.'' Marcel said, trying to steady her. But Lily dropped to her knees, tears streaming down her face. And then— She let out a scream. A piercing, heart-wrenching scream filled with pain.

I eased my forescales back and gave myself a little relief. "I think I'm ready," she said, her voice trembling. "Hold on." I unfurled my wings, moved to the edge, and dove off. I loved this part with a new bride. Her scream was louder and longer than I remembered the others being. Of course more than half the females passed out, lost their seat, and I had to catch them. I noticed when her scream changed and became laughter. I swooped upward in disbelief, catching a tailwind gliding on the current.

Fuck, this hurts! I could hear Zane’s voice, but it sounded so far away. “Zane… help me… I...
