All around us, the Shedim winced, some even clapped their hands over their ears, as the noise exploded through the room, the little witch's scream shrill and loud. She jolted as if she'd been hit by a bolt of lightning, the tendons in her hands and neck protruding as her whole body tensed and then, in a burst that made me flinch, a stream of water gushed from her mouth defying gravity to stretch up towards the ceiling. I watched, horrified to the core, as the water continued to stream from her mouth in a powerful torrent.

She takes several steps backward, putting distance between us as if afraid of what she might do next. I watch in horror as she clutches her head between her hands, fingers digging into her scalp with such force I fear she'll draw blood. Her body contorts, shoulders hunching forward as an internal battle wages within her. Then she screams. It's not a human sound—not even close. The shriek that tears from her throat is sharp and piercing, vibrating through the air with such intensity that we all instinctively cover our ears. Me, Dad, Damon, Cassidy, and Luna—all of us flinching in unison as the sound threatens to shatter our eardrums.

I am stunned into silence as my head flips back and I feel like I had just gotten whiplash. I look at her and before I can stop myself, my claws are extending from my fingers, and they rake across her face. She screams, grabbing her cheek and looking at me with true fear in her eyes. “You will pay for this!” she screams as she runs out of the washroom.

Little by little, her skin began glowing startlingly as her eyes glistened with innocence. The group of four suddenly heard a loud, screeching cry that sounded to belong to a bird — a very peculiar one. Melpomene swiftly shuddered to the rhythms of the cry and covered her body with her arms. She inquiringly stared at Liam who quickly shifted in her direction, embracing her in his arms.

I said, voice trembling, “can you let me go? Can you show me the way out?” The thing shrieked. A horrible, piercing sound that hit every nerve in my body. I slapped both hands over my ears and squeezed my eyes shut. “Fucking hell!” ‘Kira!’ Leah shouted in my head. ‘We need to leave. Now. Stop trying to have a conversation with it!’ I snapped back mentally. ‘Oh, really? You think I want to have a conversation with something that is neither male or female? Why not share your brilliant idea with me?’

She heard screams but she couldn't make out the people who were screaming. Pitiful sobs filled her ears and she found out that they were from her. Her body hurts in a very bad way. Everywhere hurts!
