Flynn put his cigarette out and pushed his hands in his pockets. He glanced around casually and considered another cigarette. It was going to be his fourth in the past hour, so he decided against it and pushed his hands deeper in the pockets of his jeans . His burn mark had healed, but everytime he thought of Killian, he remembered the scar he was going to have because of him. “Fucking psycho. “ Flynn muttered. I crane my neck back, move my hair back to see it all. The portly guard pulls a lever, and a portion of it lowers. Clunky and groaning, the ice flys out, the gate forcing its way open. The gate lowers completely, warm water slowly trickles out, and the inside of Estate Eclipse is steaming. I grab onto Dante and he helps me past the blocks of ice until we cross the other side of the gate.

“Once you step in, you’re under pack protection.” She hesitated. “And if I don’t?” His gaze softened—just a fraction. “Then the city eats you alive.” She stepped inside. The door shut with a heavy click, sealing her fate. The apartment itself was simple but secure—steel doors, reinforced windows, a balcony overlooking the city skyline. The moon hung low and fat in the sky, watching like it had a stake in her future. Dante leaned against the counter, arms crossed. “This is temporary.” “Everything feels temporary right before it becomes permanent,” Ari shot back.

“Just wait until dinner.” * * * The Crescent City was beautiful. The way the Mississippi wound through the city, the beautiful old buildings and even the city skyline were all breathtaking. Bonnie felt like she really did get to have a taste of New Orleans as they flew through the city. The helicopter was so much fun. She’d never been in one before, and she vastly preferred it to a plane, even Dylan’s private jet. She loved being able to hover over something and really be able to get a good look.
