Forest River Park Novels & Stories

I looked around the beautiful lush-green park trying to locate a bench where I could sit down and rest my feet and legs. The park was beautiful beyond words, but it was also too big as well. The park was covered with lush green grass, large trees, bushes, and flowers that were in full bloom. The center of the park was a big body of water with wooden bridges built to help people cross the water. There were paths for running and cycling and benches for people to sit down and just enjoy the scenery…or change their shoes in my case.

I was only half joking about the cow thing and with every second now, I was beginning to be suspicious. I hadn't been paying much attention to the surrounding so when I saw where we arrived at, I gasped. There, in the quiet, deserted area, was a park. There were flowers everywhere, cute little colorful butterflies flying around. The whole area was surrounded by cherry blossoms. In the middle, there were two twin swings, a slide, a seesaw and a chin-up bar. Right in front of the swing was a small pond and a fountain, it's water running down to the pond. The whole place was so beautiful and by the way no one was there, I figured out that only a handful knew of it.

Hope there were local werewolves who would permit an exile into their midst? The little park turns out to be a tree-shaded rectangle with brick planters, fenced with spiky black cast iron. There are a couple of park benches, each of them with a little plaque attached with the bench donor's name engraved on it. The shrubs and trees help mask the sounds of the street beyond the fence, and the greenery makes the air a little fresher. I sit on one of the benches until Frost's frantic mental pacing calms into irritated grumbling. Frost is not a very talkative wolf, but he is very firmly and clearly letting me know just how little he thinks of this latest adventure.

JOHN The forest was dark as ink as I came through the portal. I'd opened it right on the edge of the camp I'd spent many summers at when I was younger. Camp Meadow Creek was a compound of over one hundred acres in the Cumberland mountains outside of Louisville. In front of me were the main entrance, the Community Hall, and the fifteen smaller cabins the earth witch trainees stayed in when they were here.

The park was beautiful, no doubt. Suburban park, expanse of grass, beloved and familiar place, straight gravelled paths lined with deciduous trees, round or rectangular flower beds thick with discordant petal colours, statue slightly green, dogs exercised with balls and frisbees, games of soccer, clumps of tall rhododendrons, wooden benches with brass dedication plates, fenced area for lawn bowling club, tennis area, skate and bike park with concrete ramps. It reminded him of the lobby area in Parvaneh.

It's just like the old days. Rain always loved to walk through the pack on foot at night. She always claimed that the fresh air at night was best and we could reenergize for all the next day's workload. We walked out of the house towards the large park close to the forest. This too, was a project of hers, Rain insisted that pack members must have a place where mates could relax, kids run around while the parents' picnic. And later, it proved to be a great success, the park is being used extensively to this day. Jace later even added a pond at the center where geese now swim, and several rare tropical fish have permanent homes.

But, then he'd just end up walking fast again. “Are you okay?” I asked him after he slowed down for the third time. “You seem a little anxious.” He let out a nervous laugh. “Just hungry, I guess.” “Okay...” I shook my head, but followed him to the town square. In the very center of downtown Riversville is a small park. It has a cute little gazebo and a water feature that looks like a waterfall turning into a small stream. Some bronze statues of children and birds play endlessly in the looping water. There's a nice open space full of green grass with trees on the edges. The Fourth of July city picnic was always held here and in May and June the gazebo often held weddings.

I asked, looking at the two boys standing in front of me, "We actually don't know any park around here since we just moved here, Shane and I just wanted to hang out with you, so we used the park as an excuse" Leo said, ruffling his brother on the head, "Riverview park is just a few blocks away, let's start going if we want to get there on time" I offered pulling them along as we walked in the direction of Riverview park

I felt an immense weight on my chest, as if it was being squeezed, making it difficult to take a breath. Frederick parked the car under a picturesque canopy of trees, with a grand white tent taking center stage on a charming wooden platform. On the left side, there was a solitary fire pit and a pair of Adirondack chairs strategically placed to overlook the serene lake, encompassed by rugged cliffs.

*Dust* I stay beside River, my heart pounding in my chest as we walk through the dense forest that surrounds the pack grounds. The towering trees loom above us, their leaves whispering in the gentle breeze, and I feel a strange sense of comfort in the wild embrace of nature. It’s almost as if the forest knows something I don’t yet grasp… a secret waiting to be revealed.
