Forest River Park Novels & Stories

It was a few minutes past three o’clock, so I left Mills to it and drove through for two coffees and headed to the park to meet Donna. Riverside Park was not much more than a stretch of grass next to a quarter mile concrete path that ran along the riverside from the edge of the rail yards to the 139 bridge. The rain had stopped falling, but it seemed to hang there in the air along with the scent of wet leaves and river mud. There was only one car in the parking lot and I could see Donna leaning against the old iron rail overlooking the river. I parked nearby and made my way over doing my best to balance the two coffees and a pile of creams and sugars.

She mumbled with a pout. “There’s a resort about an hour's drive from here.” The dark forest was not all trees and bushes. It had packs, malls, lodges and schools for supernaturals. Right now we were passing through no man’s land but there was a reserve for animals some kilometers away. There was also a resort for those who wanted to rest or camp and have a tour to check out the different animals in the reserve. “Ok… we can rest. My bum is paining from sitting for too long.” Ariana pouted again and I chuckled. She was such a baby.

Oren made a quick speech before we equipped ourselves. Through a provided vehicle we traveled a few kilometers away from the airport and arrived at Abrasha Park which is a 23 minute ride. It's like a little slice of heaven here. The natural splendor of the area is quite stunning; there are even little lakes that reflect the beautiful sky. 'Will I be able to rest if I sit lazily by the lakes in the shadow of the trees?' Despite the fact that I am stating this, the area has been desecrated by various monsters, all of whom have besmirched the beauty of the area.

That one accident jacked up the Park’s insurance rates too high and they had to tear it down, according to Dad. If you take a left when you enter the park, you’ll pass the requisite playground with a basketball court. In the small hollow behind it lay a surprisingly large outdoor amphitheater. Its wooden benches lined the bank and the stage sat down in the hollow. The dense Adirondack forest loomed behind. On that stage actors performed dramas for theater lovers, bands played for special events and once a week during the summer a big movie screen reared its square white head, presenting everything from creature-features to old westerns.

Just to be safe she went up the eastern side to an entrance. The park was well-tended. The lawns looked more like a plush carpet than grass. There were topiaries trimmed into fanciful animals. Lights lit the main paths and more were strung up in trees. Crowded and well-lit. That was about as safe as Ekko was going to get. At the center of the park was a fountain. Around that were two street cafes, some shops and a carousel. She'd only seen pictures and a short video someone had posted online, but it had been enough so she could move with confidence toward the drop site.

Allison "When I picture a nice walk in the park with my husband, this isn't really how I thought it'd go down." I lean up against Gregory, grinning up at him and batting my eyes. He gives me a hard look, not in the mood to play around. The Waterfront Park presses up against the river, and while the cherry blossoms aren't in bloom, it's still a beautiful stretch of grass and concrete. Groups of people jog, ride bikes, roller skate, and stroll in the sunshine.

I found it very relaxing to be out running. I took a seat on a tree stump by the creek. I had always loved the water. There was a creek in the Red Wolf Compound, but we had a river that ran along one edge of the Crescent River Pack. I loved just going and sitting by it. It had always helped me to calm and recenter, and right now, I could use that help.

The trees sway gently, and the birds sing melodiously. "Maybe when I turn 18, the moon goddess will bless me, and my life will improve," I whisper to myself. This forest is within our pack's territory, and I feel safe here, knowing that warriors guard the borders. I walk towards the green grass, finding peace in the serene surroundings. Being in this vast area rejuvenates my spirit. I have only 15 minutes for a break, but I make the most of it. A large rock catches my eye, and I walk towards it, finding a comfortable spot to sit.

"Okay well, first off, from what I remember there's the waterpark, and the outdoor pool. Waterpark had water slides and rides, and a kid castle water thingy, I don't know. Also a wave pool. Mostly it's for kids and families. Then the outside pool, mainly for adults, and teens. It's just a pool, some chairs with umbrellas, you know the normal set up. Uh. Game room, I remember a game room. It was so much fun, you know, the works down there, loads of games, as well. Uhm, a buffet with a huge cafeteria sort of deal. It could fit two packs, three even, so that's good. I know that each room had a sort of backyard or balcony for storage and what not. There's even a forest a bit away from here, they

(Aya’s POV) “You really want to go here, huh?” Red muttered, pointing his index finger at our current location on the map board. We stopped in front of the map board of The Oak Lake and compared it with the brochure given to us at the main entrance. It was a huge park with a camping site and recreational activities for companies who wanted to conduct team-building events or for families and friends who just wanted to commune with nature to do hiking or water ventures like boating, swimming, or fishing at the lake.
