I exhaled a plume of white vapor that fogged a small patch of the cold glass.
I unconsciously traced meaningless lines in the mist with my finger.
On the table next to me were piles of drafts for my "Broken Wings" collection, all covered in revisions.
The mist on the window gradually disappeared, and I turned my gaze back to the topmost sketch on the desk—a butterfly with sharp lines, its form broken, as if its wings had been forcibly torn, struggling with a kind of painful beauty.
The charcoal pencil in my slender fingers spun around, and finally, as if making a decision, I added another, longer, and deeper crack to one of the broken wings.
