Jack rose. They met halfway, a clasp, a tug, a quick, fierce hug that signed ten unspoken contracts in under three seconds.
“You magnificent bastard,” Frank said, stepping back to inventory faces—Sonja, Bruno, Wolfie, Pauly, Will—counting them the way he used to count targets, the way he now counted miracles. “Damn, it’s good to see you all.”
Wolfgang lifted his glass again, genuine this time. “Sheriff.”
