Franklin strode into the bar, slid a wad of dollar bills across the counter, and said, cold and flat, “Mix me something strong. I want to get high. Keep the change.”
He turned, eyes sweeping the room, and muttered under his breath, anger tightening his jaw. “Christy thinks she’s the prettiest girl in the world? I’ll show her. She’s not all that.”
“Your drink, sir,” the barman ventured.
Franklin pivoted, grabbed the glass, and threw it back in one go. He scanned the bar again and spotted a pretty woman at a corner table.
“Call that lady for me,” he told the barman.
