Justin muttered quietly as he darted his eyes over the doors of the library and Marian furrowed her eyebrows towards him. "What are you doing over here?" Marian asked him rashly as the door of the libraries opened up and there came Justin's mother walking out of the door, smiling in the broad daylight of the school. Justin looked over to his mother and Jane quickly glanced up at her son. She waved the paper over her face and grinned over her son. Marian averted her eyes from Justin and looked at the middle-aged woman wearing a floral top and a black long skirt. Marian creased her forehead and asked, "Ms. Jane. What are you doing over here?"

And what a great plan it was! Out of the pumpkin room, Mrs. Belfry walked over the red carpeting of the hall, bound for the staircase at the middle of the house. Rather than descending, she crossed the landing above and wound up in the green hall. Through the fifth door on the left, she found herself inside a magnificent library. She climbed to the second floor and moved a ladder over to the shelf she wanted, then climbed to a section of old books that had accumulated a thick film of dust over them. She cleared away a few cobwebs and ran her index finger along the spines until she found the exact volume she was searching for. Flipping through the pages, she finally found the spell she wanted

Jane said. Sally wasn’t too sure about this, she didn’t feel like chatting with Jane, but she was excited to see what Jane might have picked out for her, it might be an Audrey Niffenegger or a new Jennifer Egan she hadn’t read. Jane nipped into the back room and appeared a moment later with a thick, green pamphlet. “I think you might find this very interesting,” she said, handing it to Sally.

He smirked. "Oh shut up! The First-aid kit is upstairs,that's why!" "Hummm.." He was making pup's eyes and smiling. I washed my hand carefully and he helped me to get upstairs, in mom's office. Dylan was wandering over to the bookshelfs,taking some books,one by one,and reading the title out loud .While i was at another corner of the room. "Humm..Sense and..sen-si-bi-li-ty.. by Ja-ne..oh well..Jane Austen. Who's this?"

“Thank you, Mrs-“ I felt his hand gently settle on my waist making my heartbeat increase. Meeting his gaze, I saw the same disappointment mirrored in his eyes as he surveyed the empty barn. “Oh just Ms. I am Jane LaFontaine.” She says as she smiles, her cheeks turning red. "It's not exactly what we had in mind, is it?" he remarked, his tone tinged with regret as he whispers it my ear. I shook my head in agreement. "I was hoping for something a bit more... romantic I guess," I confessed softly, voicing my concerns. I had always dreamed of a fairy-tale wedding, surrounded by lush gardens and twinkling lights—not a rundown barn in the middle of nowhere.

I marched out of the house and drove to the library. “Good day, Alpha,” the librarian greeted as I walked toward the front desk. She was an older lady, her wrinkles that adorned her forehead. She was the quintessence of a librarian with her knitted sweater and her glasses that had beaded loops that wrapped around her neck and tucked beneath her silver hair. “I’m searching for a book on the Order of the Fang,” I said. She paused, her eyes widening. “Alpha?” she called and I tilted my head. She seemed to have seen a ghost with the way she reacted and I didn’t know it was even possible for her to look as pale as she did now.

I made my way to the main library, hoping a book would distract me. The room was dark, I turned on a small lamp and started browsing the shelves, running my fingers along the spines. I needed something comforting, something that would take me far away from this confusing house and the man who lived in it. I pulled out an old copy of Jane Eyre and settled into the armchair by the window. But even the words on the page couldn’t hold my attention. My mind kept drifting back to Lucian, the way his body had reacted when he saw me naked.

He had been a kid who liked stories. Which somehow made everything worse. I spent the entire day in the library. I read Jane Eyre. Got through half of it before my eyes got tired. The main character was locked in a house by a man with secrets too. Fitting. I explored the shelves. Found first editions. Found signed copies. Found books in Italian and French and languages I didn't recognize. Whoever built this library loved it. Really loved it. I was on the second floor looking at the poetry section when I heard the front door open downstairs.

I pushed it open wider. The room was cool and dark, shelves towering like silent guardians. I flicked on one small switch on the wall, and amber lights pooled across the entire room and over the shelves. My eyes ran through the sections—romance section, classics and thrillers. I ran my fingers along the spines, looking for something thick, something to lose myself in until sleep finally came. I saw a first-edition Jane Austen. A modern dark romance with a brooding cover. It was a fantasy series Mirabel had raved about.
