The vision had faded, but emotions clung like smoke, refusing to dissipate. Fire. So much fire consuming everything. The ceremonial grounds engulfed in flames, warriors burning alive, their screams echoing through pack bonds until the sound became unbearable. Kael reaching for me through the inferno, his hand turning to ash before our fingers could touch.

It was time I showed her, With one motion i sent lily flying back, not hurting her but keeping her out of my way. I can hear her cries and yells for help, the agony in her voice. It makes my blood run cold, adrenaline coursing through my veins as I push through the flames of the fire, finding her trapped inside an office. With one forceful kick, the door comes crumbling down. Emily and I’s gazes meet. Relief floods across her face as she rushes towards me, slipping into my arms as I pick her up, her legs wrapping around my waist. She feels weak in my arms, ready to give up.

Richard quickly grabbed him protectively. “It’s okay,” Richard said weakly. “It’s okay.” But nothing was okay anymore. The fire started seconds later. Harley struck a match. I saw it happen in slow motion. The tiny flame reflected inside her eyes while gasoline surrounded us. “No!” I screamed. Richard lunged toward her at the same time. The match slipped from her fingers. And the entire floor exploded into flames. Heat slammed into us instantly. The fire spread so fast it looked alive. People screamed everywhere. Smoke filled my lungs painfully.

Somewhere in the mess, a candle lay knocked over, wax hardened against the side. Then came the image again: Cassie and Ledger, laughing, holding hands. That stupid kiss. Her fingers flicked the lighter and a flame burst forth. Then she released her finger. She repeated the motions a few more times before leaving the flame on. Her eyes fell on the book shelf and before she knew it, she was setting the books on fire. “Let’s see how perfect she looks when everything’s gone.” The flames caught on the curtains and then began to spread. There was smoke and heat.
