I really hated when that happened. The spot where my hair had tangled was on fire as I tried to untangle the strands of hair. The more I tried to tie them loose, the more tighter the strands wrapped around each other. I adjusted myself on the bed. Maybe if I tried a different angle, I would be able to get it. Wrong. If anything, it was worse now and even the small act of me touching it hurt like hell. There was no way I could do this alone. I needed some help. Any help at all.

The car was silent and the tension that lingered in the air was unbearable, I could only hear the engine. Artemis tensed against the window and turned her body, trying to put as much space between us as the car would allow. The smell of her perfume lingered In the air—vanilla with a hint of something floral. The disgust she felt for me was clearer than words. I could tell by how her perfectly manicured fingers gripped her clutch and how her shoulders slightly trembled with rage. Artemis was undoubtedly angry and confused, but so was I.

The wind combed her hair back, wild and long now, untouched by styling gel or photographers or any of Velvet’s ruthless perfectionism. This was what freedom felt like, wasn’t it? Unstyled. Unbranded. Uncertain. Her fingers drifted down, just once, pressing lightly over the curve of her lower abdomen. Nothing showed. Not yet. It could still be nothing. A mistake. An echo. Stress. But her body… it wasn’t lying. And neither was the voice in her mind. “You know,” it whispered. She did. Far in the distance, a gull screamed and vanished into the fog.

Just this hollow, frantic stranger. "You're a nutcase! Let me go!" Panic, cold and sharp, slammed into my chest as I felt a sudden, terrifying looseness around my torso. The knot of the white bath towel… my only shield was slipping. It unraveled from the violent friction of our bodies rubbing together as we wrestled. I could feel the cold air of the foyer hitting the bare skin of my waist as the fabric began to sag under his heavy hands. The vulnerability was overwhelming, stripping away not just physical protection but every last shred of dignity.

I could feel the warmth of his breath on my face. His eyes sparkled like an eager puppy wanting a pat. "I work at my family's company, love racing, don't smoke, drink, or gamble. No messy romantic past either. Selena, is there anything else you'd like to know? Even if it's something more private, I'm open." He shifted closer and closer, but a voice suddenly called out. "What are you two doing?" Snapping out of it, I quickly pulled away, only to see Connor standing there with Vanessa Kruger.

I wished her extensions would rip out from her ginger hair as she playfully twirls the luscious strands. While thinking of just leaving the hair mess like that, she heard a knock, this time it was louder and more than once, "come on in," she said but Todd didn't pull the doorknob instead he knocked again, Thalia sighed in frustration. In anger, she stomped to the door and pulled it. "Didn't you hear me, Asking you to come in? Such a jerk." She growls at him.
