Dorian stood behind her, reading upside down. Isolde sat near the window, the blank paper still crumpled in her hand. Across her palm, a faint ink stain lingered. It smelled like smoke. “None of these are names,” Penelope said finally. “They’re ciphers. Velvet-tier. Mask-level access only.” Dorian nodded. “Slot codes. I remember them. They were designed to anonymize the highest bidders during performances… or negotiations.” Isolde blinked. “What kind of negotiations?”

My anger wavered, confusion rushing in to fill the gaps. I stared at him, the pieces starting to rattle around in my brain, trying to find their slots. Nothing made sense. Everything made too much sense. "I still don't understand, Jaxx. I don't get how this leads to... to this." I gestured between us, encompassing everything we'd built, everything that now felt like it might crumble.

I didn't know what to do; borrowing money was not even in my mind because how would I be able to pay it back? I let out a breath in frustration and opened my word puzzle book. Searching for words in any puzzle book always helps me. It is weird, yes, but whenever I was frustrated, angry, sad, or something related to any of these mentioned, solving puzzles did it for me. I searched for the word 'Discombobulated' in the letters arranged randomly. I squinted my eyes, hoping that it would expose the word quickly but that wasn't working. I put the pencil in my mouth, staring hard at the book. It was getting so difficult so, I skipped to the next word, 'Onomasiological'

But he just didn't say anything about it. Neu didn't think that they should use all of that words one by one. So he tells them that maybe they should choose words that look like they got a connection with the sentence. They then discuss the words that they're going to use. It was not taking a long time for that and they decided that the words that they're going to use are 'Dream, happy, smart, and game.' There are just 4 words that they need to try so it will be easy for them. They then try using the word 'Dream' first since it was the only word that make the sentence sounds like it was good. Hikari then take out the tablet and try to unlock the password with the words 'Dream'

On the page. In my head, I scrawled the word in big, ugly handwriting, underlining it twice. UP. The ink hated that. It lurched around us, trying to swirl the other way, trying to drag us down, down, down. But the words didn’t care. They twisted. Lifted. Rearranged themselves into something new. Around me and Corvin, lines of text rose in spirals, sentences linking end to beginning, forming rungs. Paragraphs bent at right angles. Question marks hooked onto commas. Em dashes stretched, stiffening into rails.

I muttered. It wasn’t a message. It was alphabet soup. A jumble of letters that looked like someone had a seizure while playing Scrabble. A T I W L A S Y D I turned it sideways. Upside down. Nothing. It was just… gibberish. Was it a code? A word scramble? Did Sarah’s brain fry before she could finish writing ‘get me a better doctor’? The squeak of shoes on linoleum snapped my head up.
