Chapter 80 || SANCIA'S POV || The sun was dipping low, its orange glow illuminating the jagged peaks of the cliffs that surrounded the cove. The faint scent of saltwater mingled with the coppery tang of blood, an acrid reminder of what we had just survived. I sat cross-legged in the sand beside Vincenzo, the bandage I’d hastily tied around his leg already soaked through with crimson. His breath came in shallow gasps, and his face was pale, streaked with sweat and grime.

"You called my private line at three in the morning because a stray dog crawled into a warehouse? Shoot him and throw him in the river, Santino. Don't waste my time." Standing up, he stumbled to the door and opened it. “Gracious me, Lucian, you are not dressed yet?” Antonio asked, baffled as he pushed past him and entered the room. Lucian glanced at his wristwatch and surprised to see that he had been asleep for straight six hours. How possible? He wondered, that is the longest he had slept in two years without being jerked awake by a bad dream. He glanced at who was still sitting on the sofa and smiling softly at what Antonio said and he wondered how long she had been sitting there. “I don’t have anything to wear,” he heard her say followed by Antonio’s exclamation.

“YOU HAVE TO LET ME GO, YOU TRUNK OF A MAN!” A low, sinister chuckle leaves his lips at my lame insult, his wide shoulders shaking slowly at the motion. “My name is Santino Ricca.”

Santo seized the opportunity, flanking them from the side and delivering precise shots that eliminated the threat. Their path forward was fraught with danger as they navigated through the mansion's labyrinthine corridors. Rico led the way, his senses sharp as he detected movement ahead. They encountered a fortified door guarded by two heavily armed sentries. Without hesitation, Rico lobbed a smoke grenade, filling the hallway with thick gray mist that obscured their movements. A large mirror appeared in front of me. I was pinned in a hidden corner behind it. The sounds started quickly. Two figures tumbled onto the bed. Serena tore open Ethan's white shirt. "Come on, let me see if you still have those abs. I've been dying for this." Ethan glanced at me through the mirror, then turned back to Serena. "You know I'm not Caleb. You never give me much time. Two days from now you won't be mine anymore. So tonight, can we pretend this is our wedding night?"

She smiled at him soothingly, wanting to assure the other party. But since Dior's brain circuit is different, he took this smile as a smile of hopelessness and reluctance. “In fact, we still have few hours before the inland chasers can catch up with us.
