Dawn’s POV: My heart pounded in my chest as I slowly walked up to him and while I did, I couldn’t bring myself to look at him… to look at his beautiful eyes… so I watched the floor instead. The hammering of my heart turned into full palpitations when I arrived at where he stood with the wrapped gift and I was just about to beam a smile up at him when I remembered that he could hear my heartbeat. He had a sharp sense of hearing, one that was even sharper than mine, and this thought made me bow my head in embarrassment.

There was a pause on the other end before Andrew finally responded, "But, Mr. Hood, the Levine Group has just announced a partnership with the Walker Group. Also, Mrs. Hood's father has passed away." The news struck everyone like a thunderbolt. As the reality sunk in, a wave of agony overwhelmed me, as cold and relentless as a winter storm, consuming my spirit. Overcome by grief and pain, my legs gave way. Everything faded to black.

Beside me, Cain put my Bleeding Heart that was beating relatively slowly into his chest. With that done, he dropped limply to the floor, not having even the strength to stand. But now that we had swapped hearts, he would have only a hundred years to live, while I would be immortal. Around us, the voice seemed to expand into boundless darkness, while the spiritual energies in my body regenerated at a miraculous rate. As I rose to my feet, Cain caught my sleeve and asked with a quivering voice, "Do you still hate me…?" I never looked back, only leaving my voice, "The Wisteria clan will no longer return because of you."
