Her words settled deeply inside me. Without saying anything else, I leaned forward and wrapped my arms around her. She immediately returned the embrace, and for several quiet moments we simply held each other. But she didn’t interrupt. “Every muscle trembled. Every handhold burned. The earth felt like it wanted me back.” His jaw clenched at the recollection. “But I didn’t stop. I didn’t turn away. I moved forward… one hand, one foot, one breath at a time. And when I finally reached the top, the sun was setting. The whole valley was lit in gold. The frozen enemies loomed like statues, yet their arrogance and cruelty could no longer touch her or me. The world around me seemed to vibrate with the power of the Moon Goddess. The frozen soldiers and wolves were trapped in a moment of paralysis, their confidence and cruelty rendered powerless against divine intervention. My silver signet ring was completely dormant, its surface covered in a dull, ash-grey film. I am always afraid of everything. I get up. I go to the window. I look at the garden. I look at the snow. I look at the little house at the bottom. I look at the light in his window. I look at his shadow moving, coming, going, waiting, hoping, loving. And I tell myself that this is courage. It's not having no fear; it's being afraid and going anyway. It's not having no doubts; it's doubting and choosing anyway. It's not never running; it's running and coming back anyway. It's not never falling; it's falling and getting back up anyway. It's not never suffering; it's suffering and loving anyway. It's not never being broken; it's being broken and continuing anyway. It's not never being lost; it
