They're likely to be extroverts. We were having a lot of fun especially when the clowns started their show. I was also watching like a little child when someone from the side appeared. My eyes squinted at the unfamiliar physique. He was wearing an all black suit while talking with Hugo. His back was on us so I couldn't see his face. I got up, feeling nervous as my heart thumps faster and erratically. He clutched her hands and went in their direction, only to be stopped when I accidentally saw the man's face.

What the fuck? “What the fuck are you doing?!” a deep, funny-sounding voice yells at me, causing my ears to ring. I groan as I open my eyes and see a brightly colored clown in front of me. A sexy clown. As my eyes meet the deep brown ones of this sexy clown, a weird pressure radiates from inside my head. It feels like someone is trying to talk to me from the other side of a brick wall. It hurts. I shake my head trying to make it stop.

That was when Sunny came up to me, whispering into my ear, "Here comes the prank!" Even as my mind went blank, he pulled out a remote and pressed a button, and everyone's heads jerked around as a recording of Andy's voice boomed. "I feel like I could get sick everytime I see Jane's face! She's actually eating leftovers out of a chute!" I scanned the misty surroundings cautiously while all my bones ached from the fall and my heart thudded violently. Everything looked normal… sort of. The rides, games, and performers were there. Laughter echoed from afar, but beneath those laughs there was something off. An old, slanted sign above the large entrance read: Carnival of Souls. I stumbled up, limping on one leg. “Hey, do you want cotton candy?” a voice behind me asked nicely. When I turned around, I saw a clown that looked almost cute. He smiled at me, offering the candy.

The paths were more uneven here, churned dirt under our shoes instead of better laid gravel. Then I saw it. The haunted house sat near the back edge of the grounds, all peeling paint and fake cobwebs and flickering red bulbs around the entrance. A guy in a torn suit stood outside growling at children with such little conviction it bordered on charming. Clair made a face. “Absolutely not.” I looked at her. “You’re scared of this?” “I’m not scared. I just don’t enjoy cheap jump scares.” “That sounds suspiciously like fear.” She hit my arm lightly with the stuffed rabbit. “Watch it.”

The whole building also obeyed him. "You've gotten such a loud voice" Raymond laughed at him after collecting himself together. Raymond was not fearful but whenever he was scared. He had a way of turning the fear back to its source and that was what he was doing right now. "What did you just say?" it seemed Palmer was stunned by his profound reaction. "What is funny to you?!" he yelled at him again. "You" Raymond shouted to fire back before the echoes of his voice could fade away. "You are just a clown!" he said calmly later.

Then he started laughing just as hard as I was. Walking toward us was a clown. Not a normal clown. A full-blown nightmare of bright colors, oversized shoes, ridiculous suspenders, white face paint, and a giant painted frown. Even the massive red nose looked offended. The clown bounced with every step as if he had springs attached to his feet.

The carnival smelled like sugar and popcorn and damp hay. At the haunted house entrance, someone hands me a red balloon and tells me to follow the path. Somewhere, I turned wrong. My brothers vanished. Three clowns appeared. Not funny clowns. Not circus clowns. These were fuck-ass ugly, nightmare clowns — too tall, teeth too sharp, voices wrong. Bloody knives glinted under flickering lights as they closed in. Run. I told my feet. But they were stuck. I watched them getting closer and closer. I could already feel their teeth sinking into my flesh.
