Lucie’s Point of View
I found Gabby sitting by the large window of the apartment, her silhouette outlined by the soft glow of the evening sun.
She held a steaming mug of tea, but her hands trembled slightly as she lifted it to her lips. Her eyes were distant, as if she were staring at something far beyond the horizon.
“Gabby,” I called softly, not wanting to startle her.
She turned her head sharply, her tense expression softening slightly when she saw me. “Lucie,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “Is everything ready?”
